Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Valerie Cadena Vargas was born and raised in Del Rio, TX, and has been looking forward to coming back in order to help serve the community she grew up in. She is a top twenty graduate of Del Rio High School, class of 2002. She is also the proudest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2006 where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Dr. Vargas graduated from Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry in May 2011 receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She is presently a member of the American Dental Association, the North Texas Hispanic Dental Association, and a Psi Omega Dental Fraternity Alumni member.

Dr. Vargas enjoys all aspects of dentistry, particularly endodontics. Dr. Vargas has been with our practice since June 2011 and had been looking forward to practicing with her uncle Dr. Louis H. Cadena since she was in high school. Aside from her established dental career, Dr. Vargas has many interests and hobbies. She is a huge movie buff, and she loves to exercise and stay in shape. She currently enjoys spending time with her husband Adrian L. Vargas, PT, D.P.T., and their wonderful children, Isaiah who is 12 years old, Elijah who is 10, Alaina who is 6, and Noah who is 5 years old.

Dr. Louis Cadena Dr. Cadena is a native Del Rioan who returned to practice in his hometown in 1988. Dr. Cadena graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1981. In 1985, he graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He currently is a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the San Antonio District Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Texas A&M University Medical and Dental Society. He is on the Consulting staff at Val Verde Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Cadena completed his preceptorship in Dental Implantology at the University of Texas at San Antonio Dental Branch in 2014. He earned a Fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) on March 25, 2014, and is an active member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Cadena enjoys all aspects of dentistry, particularly cosmetic makeovers. He takes pride in providing some of the latest and most progressive dental technologies to his patients. Dr. Cadena is a member of Sacred Heart church and is an avid sports enthusiast who loves playing softball and golf. A diehard alumnus of Texas A&M University, he loves all things Aggie.

Dr. Cadena and his wife Sheila have three children. Their son Kyle graduated with honors from Mortuary Science at San Antonio College in 2014 and from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Political Science in 2010. Their daughter Karah received an MBA in marketing from Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in 2014 and is currently working for Hewlett-Packard. Karah has also recently blessed her parents with their first grandchild, Kaden Anthony Scalero. Their youngest son Korey is a senior at the University of Texas at San Antonio, majoring in exercise science with an intent to pursue a physical therapy career.

Dr. Cadena has over 27 years of experience in the dental field and has practiced in Del Rio for 30 years. Dr. Cadena believes all of our patients deserve the best and will not compromise on quality.
